Imagination and illumination
     have lead us to this moment
     where we can see the future.

The brilliance and heat of Your love
     woke us unexpectedly.
     Surprised,
     we opened our shuttered windows
     to welcome You

To the clutter of our dusty rooms
     of regret and pain
     and separation.

Beckoned outside like children going
     to a carnival,
     we met another just like us,
     one half of the cell of God that was
     our starting point.

How many times since then
     have we hidden in a closet
     or tripped headlong
     over mounds of unnamed detritus?

It has been difficult to learn that we are not alone,
     but You persistently
     remind us
     of Your transcendent love.

The Wedding Rings On Sunday, October 8, 2006, Kimmy Sophia and I reaffirmed our marriage commitment, reading this poem that I wrote, as our vows. We exchanged rings that we had custom made. The rings are 23kt (.958) gold, and have 20 Triquetra knots around the center of each ring. It was used by the early Christians to symbolize the Trinity.

Year after year, moving from room to room,
     Your love cleanses us,
     brightens us,
     lives within us;
     showing us what it means
     to live together.

Pledged to each other,
     each as half of You,
     we find wholeness
     in Your presence,
     in Your permeating love
     that weaves our thoughts and feelings
     into communion.

Imagination and illumination
     have lead us to this moment
     where we can see the future
     of a love for You and for each other
     that has no corners,
     no boundaries or walls of separation.

Our vows of eternal triune marriage;
     Matrimonium Aeternum Trinum;
     are a joyful recognition; our response
     to Your vow of love;
     our commitment to walk together
     into the sunrise of God's love.
