Columns :: The Culture of Heart What Would I Have Done? ~ An Offering of Repentance and Love to the American Indian Community ~ November 7, 2007
![]()
I was asked to write a statement of repentance and reconciliation for a program honoring the American Indian Community. The document below (linked to as a PDF) is what I wrote.
My good friend, and superb artist, Kevin Convery, gave me permission to include his painting, "The Year of the Falling Stars" in the document. His painting is based on the belief of the Plains Indians that an 1833 meteor shower foreshadowed their apocalypse.
You can see a larger image of the painting at Kevin's website. Note that permission is granted to distribute this document freely. You can print as many copies as you like; you can even sell color copies and keep the profits (although it would be a good thing to donate the profits to the American Indian community). If you do distribute the document, please note that the text, image and copyright information must be left intact. Kevin and I would also very much appreciate your feedback! It is time to honor the American Indian community!
